Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has announced retirement from all forms of Indian cricket.

The 36-year-old Karnataka batter announced his retirement on Twitter. "It has been my greatest honour to represent my country and my state, Karnataka. However, all good things must come to an end, and with a grateful heart, I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket. Thank you all."

The Bangalore cricketer was once a regular feature for the Indian team in ODIs and T20Is, but could not prolong his stay.

A member of the inaugural ICCT20-winning side under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Uthappa featured in 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is for the country.

In the 50-over format, he scored 934 runs at an average of 25.94 with his highest being 86.

In the 20-over version Uthappa managed 249 runs at an average of 24.90.

The Bangalore guy made his ODI debut against England in Indore in 2006 whereas his T20I debut came against Scotland at Duban in 2007.

The stylist batter last donned the Blue jersey in a T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2015.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Uthappa's best days were for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) where he played a pivotal role in steering the side to victory in 2014 when he won the Orange Cap for being the highest scorer in the tournament.

His opening partnership with the then KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir was instrumental in helping KKR win the cash-rich tournament in 2014.

Apart from KKR, Uthappa has played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Pune Warriors at the IPL.
