Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant looked happy with their performance on Wednesday but still believed there was room for improvement.

After restricting the Rajasthan Royals to 160, the Capitals rode Mitchell Marsh (89) and David Warner (52 not out)’s innings to victory at the DY Patil Stadium.

“It was very close to a perfect game. But I always believe there’s room for improvement,” Pant said after the eight-wicket win. “When you know the wicket is going to turn, there’s an opportunity to bowl first or bat first. At the toss, I said anything around 140-160 would be good for us, and we got 160. Destiny is always in your hands, you can look to give 100 per cent. Fielding wise we can be better.”

On Prithvi Shaw, who had been admitted to hospital with fever, Pant said the Capitals opener was suffering from typhoid. “He got typhoid or something like that is what the doctor told me.”

The Capitals victory was more about Man of the Match Marsh’s all-round showing. Marsh, however, admitted that batting wasn’t easy.

“It was a tough game physically when you have to bat and bowl. Cutters into the wicket were hard to score off but we knew one good partnership was enough.

“...It was not a 200 strike-rate wicket, we had to build an innings. Davey (David Warner) was awesome,” the Australian, who stitched a 144-run partnership with his country-mate Warner, said.

Warner also lauded Marsh’s performance. “How good was Mitch there! Came out there and started positively. We just told him that if he can get an 80 or 90, he can win games for us,” Warner said.
