Only 19.2 overs of play was possible in Lucknow on Wednesday after a delayed start as inclement weather returned to have the final say.

Both teams settled for a point each after Chennai Super Kings spinners ran through the Lucknow Super Giants line-up, with only 23-year-old Ayush Badoni standing tall amid the ruins with a counter-attacking half-century.

This is the first game in this edition which had to be called off midway due to rain.

Badoni, who came in at 44 for 5 had put his team in a position of respectability on a very difficult surface. He smashed two fours and four sixes in his 59 off 33 balls as the hosts managed to reach 125 for seven when rain stopped play.

With 11 points from 10 games, the Super Giants and Super Kings are placed second and third, respectively.

Brief scores: LSG 125/7 in 19.2 overs (Ayush Badoni 59, Moeen Ali 2/13). Match abandoned.
