Rahul Tewatia didn’t have much to think about when he made it to the crease. He knew only big hits could fetch Gujarat Titans a victory and he was ready for the act. Finally, he needed to get 12 off two balls and he delivered.
“Amazing feeling... There was nothing to think! Just go there and hit sixes, that’s what me and David (Miller) were thinking,” Tewatia said after his heroics on Friday.
“I planned against (Odean) Smith... The last ball was off the middle of the bat, and I knew it was six. The earlier ball he bowled was wide outside off, and so I thought the last ball was going to come there too.”
But it was Shubman Gill’s classy 96 that will remain etched in memory.
“It was important to keep the scoreboard ticking and to hit those gaps because this outfield is rapid. It was just about execution. It was just one of those days where I was hitting the ball well and finding the gaps as well,” Man of the Match Shubman said.
