If Monday was about Jasprit Bumrah’s lethal spell of fast bowling, Gujarat Titans’ leg-spinner Rashid Khan stole the limelight with a four-wicket haul against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.
The 62-run victory propelled the Titans to the playoffs. Rashid was elated to be back among wickets after going through a lull in the past few matches.
“I think it was all about my line and length. That was something I was missing in those games. The kind of pace I bowl and action I have, I cannot afford to lose my line and length,” Rashid said.
“It was all about focusing on hitting the right areas. The wicket was helping today (Tuesday) and there was bounce and turn, but overall it was just about my length. I have to bowl in the right areas and have the right length... Only then I will be able to pick wickets,” the Afghan cricketer said.
Rashid lauded the Titans pacers’ effort in the Powerplay overs. “They have given us a platform. (Mohammed) Shami the way he bowled, Yash (Dayal), Hardik (Pandya) and (Alzarri) Joseph... I think the way they bowled in the Powerplay, they gave us a kind of platform where we can come and put the pressure on them.
“In a score like 140-145, you always need to have a good Powerplay and that was something the seamers gave us.”
Shubman Gill, Man of the Match for his 63 not out, was satisfied with his performance. “Always pleasing when you’re there till the end... I didn’t expect the ball to seam so much at the start.
“It was nipping around, and then I expected the spinners to get some turn. I think they didn’t bowl up much. Had Krunal (Pandya) pitched it up, it would have been tougher,” said Shubman.
