Australia will rely on their specialist fast bowlers to set the tone in the ODI World Cup rather than mix and match with all-rounders, Josh Hazlewood said.

According to Hazlewood, Australia are likely to revert to that type when captain Pat Cummins and fellow pacer Mitchell Starc rejoin the squad for the final warm-up series against India in the lead-up to the World Cup, which starts on October 5.

“I expect with Mitch and Pat back, we’ll probably share the first 10 overs between us more often than not,” he said. “With Mitch and Pat coming in hopefully for the India ODIs, our quicks, no doubt, will play a huge part in the World Cup.”

Hazlewood said the ongoing ODI series against South Africa has been a great opportunity to build depth and bring about more competition in the squad.
