India are sweating over the fitness of Hardik Pandya after he limped off the field with an injured left ankle early in the Bangladesh innings on Thursday.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital for a scan and the report is awaited. He did return to the stadium and was under the supervision of the medical team. “We’ll see how he pulls up tomorrow (Friday) morning and then plan on how to go forward,” said captain Rohit Sharma.
Bowling his first over and ninth of the innings, Pandya suffered the injury when he tried to intercept Litton Das’ straight drive with his right leg but landed awkwardly.
Hobbling on one leg, he tried to return to his bowling mark but failed after initial treatment on the ground. Virat Kohli then stepped in to complete the remaining three balls of the over.
Pandya’s availability is of utmost importance to the side since he lends balance to the team.
