The International Cricket Council (ICC)'s board of directors will decide on the process to elect its new chairman on Monday, almost a month-and-a-half after Shashank Manohar decided to step down on July 1.
The ICC board headed by interim chairman Imran Khwaja will discuss via videoconference the deadline for filing nominations, the date and its procedure.
According to The Telegraph's sources, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly is unlikely to throw his hat in the ring, which will leave Colin Graves (outgoing England and Wales Cricket Board boss) as the favourite. Khwaja's name has also featured in the mix.
The ICC board is unlikely to allow much time to decide on the nominations, which could be before August 17, the day the Supreme Court is scheduled to take up the BCCI's case involving the waiver of cooling-off period for Sourav and Jay Shah.
"There's no way he will move to the ICC now. There's lot of work left in the BCCI and he has time in hand to take the ICC plunge," said a source.
The ICC has so far failed to arrive at a consensus on how to vote a chairman --- by a simple or two-thirds majority of the board.
