Lucknow Super Giants bowling coach Morne Morkel lavished praise on pacer Mohsin Khan for showing character in his contribution for his team after returning from a career-threatening shoulder injury.

The left-arm quick bowled a wonderful final over in the Super Giants’ previous game, conceding only five runs when Mumbai Indians needed 11 as the Krunal Pandya-led side went on to win by five runs.

“Because of the injury, Mohsin almost lost his arm. Being a year out of the game and coming back to bowl an over like that has been inspirational,” Morkel said on Friday, the eve of the Super Giants’ clash against Knight Riders.

What pleased the former South Africa pacer most about Mohsin is his “calmness and composure”. “To come back without any cricket at all and with a handful of training sessions, then play the IPL where the margins are so small, and to show that composure and calmness was pleasing.

“Indian cricket has a real gem of a cricketer and somebody they need to look after,” Morkel, also a former Knight, stated.
