KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer on Monday took part in match simulations at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. They are expected to play a couple of practice matches in the next few days.
Rahul and Shreyas are making comebacks from thigh and back injuries, respectively. Their recovery process will give the selectors a fair idea of their fitness ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup.
Both the players haven't yet been passed fit by the NCA and how they cope with the stress and toil of a 50-over game will determine their fate.
Rahul is also expected to keep wickets for the 50 overs, besides batting, to give some clarity to how he deals with match situations.
The Asia Cup squad is expected to be announced later this week and will undergo a week-long camp in Bangalore from August 23.
