Josh Hazlewood is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series against India after suffering a calf strain during warm-ups on the fourth day in Brisbane.
A Cricket Australia statement confirmed that the 33-year-old will also not take part in the remainder of the ongoing Gabba Test.
Hazlewood bowled only one over on Tuesday, the fourth day of the third Test. He appeared to move gingerly in the only over he bowled before walking off the field. Subsequent scans confirmed that he had strained his right calf.
“He is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series. A squad replacement will be made in due course,” a CA statement read.
This means Scott Boland is set to return to the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
It is also the latest in a series of injury concerns for Hazlewood, who also missed the pink-ball Test in Adelaide last week following a recurrence of a side injury.
