Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been handed an official reprimand for a level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for deliberately stepping in Ollie Pope's way when he attempted a run. The incident happened on the fourth day of the first Test in Hyderabad.

This was Bumrah's first offence in 24 months, with a demerit point being added to his record.

"The pacer was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match'," the ICC stated.

The incident happened in the 81st over of England's second innings. On-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, along with third umpire Marais Erasmus, levelled the charges.

Bumrah accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson and hence no formal hearing was required.

India slip to 5th

India have dropped to fifth behind Bangladesh in the World Test Championship standings after their 28-run defeat to England.

India were briefly on top after the two-Test series in South Africa before being overtaken by Australia.

Ready for Super Six

Bloemfontein: With three wins on the trot, India colts will look to keep the juggernaut rolling when they take on their New Zealand counterparts in a Super Six-stage clash of the U-19 World Cup here on Tuesday.

Having qualified for the super six stage as Group A leaders, India will also have the advantage of playing at the Mangaung Oval on Tuesday — the same venue where they have played all their three matches so far. New Zealand, on the other hand, arrived from East London and will have to adapt quickly to the conditions.

The best thing about the Indian team is that at least one or two batters had stood up and delivered. No.3 batter Musheer Khan has been most consistent, while skipper Uday Saharan has played impactful innings and will look to continue in the same vein.

In the bowling department, left-arm pacer Naman Tiwari and left-arm spinner Saumy Pandey have excelled. Notably, New Zealand haven’t done too well with the bat.
