Jasprit Bumrah on Friday started his rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore following back surgery in New Zealand last month.

The surgery was successful and Bumrah was “pain-free”, according to a media statement from the BCCI. He is expected to be fully fit for the ODI World Cup later this year.

The pacer has already been ruled out of the IPL and the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval in June.

Bumrah has not featured in any cricket since late September last year, when he pulled out of the limited overs series at home against South Africa for a stress reactionin his lower back. He was included in the squad in January for the home series againstSri Lanka, but that didn’t happen after a recurrence of his back pain.

Shreyas Iyer, who has also been ruled out of IPL 2023 and the WTC final, is set to undergo surgery on his back in London next week. He will report to the NCA for his rehab after remaining in the surgeon’s care for two weeks.

It was also learnt that Rajat Patidar, who shot into the limelight with a century in the IPL playoffs last year for RCB, will undergo surgery on his troublesome left heel, also in London, next month.
