IPL: Lucknow Supergiants rope in MSK Prasad as strategic consultant

Prasad is the second high-profile appointment in the franchise’s support staff after Justin Langer replaced Andy Flower as head coach

Former national selection committee chairman MSK Prasad on Thursday joined IPL franchise Lucknow Supergiants as a strategic consultant.

Prasad is the second high-profile appointment in the franchise’s support staff after Justin Langer replaced Andy Flower as head coach.

The other members of the support staff include Gautam Gambhir as mentor, Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach, Morne Morkel as bowling coach and Vijay Dahiya as assistant coach.

Prasad, the former India wicketkeeper, has also worked as the director of cricket operations in Andhra.

“His involvement at RPSG Sports will be instrumental in providing essential guidance across a spectrum of critical domains as head of talent search, talent development and our academy business,” the franchise said.

Lucknow Supergiants qualified for the playoffs in both their appearances in the IPL so far.

Prasad served as the men’s cricket team’s chief selector when India scripted the historic Test series wins in Australia in 2018-19 and. He was also there during their last ODI World Cup campaign in 2019.

He played 6 Tests and 17 ODIs for India between 1999 and 2001 besides 96 first-class matches.
