Rajasthan Royals went from ecstasy to heartbreak in the matter of just one ball in Jaipur on Sunday.

In one of the most dramatic finishes that the IPL has ever seen, Sunrisers Hyderabad stunned the home crowd to silence as they went on to chase down a 215-run target to win the game by four wickets.

But that was after they — and almost everyone else at the ground and beyond — thought they had lost the match by four runs.

Sunrisers needed 17 off the last over after Glenn Phillips (25 off 7 balls) smashed three sixes and a four in the penultimate over, bowled by left-arm seamer Kuldip Yadav.

The last over was being bowled by death-overs specialist Sandeep Sharma. The right-arm medium pacer did well for the first five balls and left the Sunrisers needing five off the last delivery. Then he fired a yorker-length ball to Abdul Samad, whose best effort was caught by Jos Buttler at long-off.

But just when the Royals had heaved a sigh of relief thinking they had won the game, the dreaded no-ball siren (for over-stepping) went off. Samad did not err off the resultant free-hit, thumping it for a six straight down the ground. A shocked Sharma, who had bowled a brilliant last over earlier in the league against Chennai Super Kings, did not know what hit him.

Spare a thought for Buttler, who had played a superb knock of 95 off 59 balls to help the Royals post a 200-plus total. Captain Sanju Samson (66 not out off 38 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (35 off 18 balls) also smart knocks. But little did they know at the halfway stage what fate awaited them at the end of the match.

As they say, it's not over till the last ball is bowled.
