Rajasthan Royals produced a superb all-round performance to beat the Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs in Jaipur on Thursday.

Chasing 203, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men ended on 170 for six. The Super Kings began on a promising note accumulating 42 in the Powerplay overs. But then they lost Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu in quick succession to lose their way in the middle overs.

Spinners Adam Zampa and Ravichandran Ashwin took three and two wickets, respectively, to stiffle the chase. Shivam Dube (52 off 33) and Moeen Ali tried to put up a fight but the Royals struck vital blows.

While Sandeep Sharma continued his good form with the ball, Jason Holder was impressive too.

Holder executed his wide yorkers pretty well in the 17th over but went for plenty nonetheless. He came back strongly in the 19th, bowling his yorkers on target as the Ravindra Jadeja-Dube pair could add only nine runs. That left the Super Kings with an improbable task of getting 37 in the final over.

In the end it was a terrific game for the Royals which brought relief after back-to-back defeats.

Earlier, a flurry of boundaries in the last three overs helped Rajasthan Royals reach 202 for five.

Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal set the stage ablaze ransacking 49 runs off the last three overs which propelled the Royals to a challenging total. Jurel made 34 off 15 balls while Padikkal (23 not out off 13) too chipped in though he was lucky with a couple of streaky boundaries.

This was after a solid 86-run opening stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal (77 off 43) and Jos Buttler (27 off 21). The Royals thus became the first team to get to 200 at their home ground, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

A total of 56 runs came off the last four overs. Jaiswal once again displayed his talent with a flurry of strokes. He started on an aggressive note, hitting boundaries all around the ground.
