Punjab Kings are one of five teams with 10 points from nine games, separated only by net run rate to be placed sixth, while Mumbai Indians are on eight points with a game in hand.

In what looks like similarly matched teams, the two will clash in Mohali on Wednesday. Both teams successfully chased down 200-plus targets in their previous matches. Batting is their main strength while bowling has let them down on most occasions.

In their last meeting this season, Mumbai Indians were set a target of 215 and were in control until Arshdeep Singh dismissed Suryakumar Yadav in the 18th over of their chase.

Chris Jordan has joined the Mumbai Indians squad for the remainder of the season, but it is unclear which overseas player he has replaced.

There is a chance the visitors could bring in off spinner Hrithik Shokeen to challenge the three left-handers in Punjab’s top order.

Mumbai Indians will take a lot of hope from the fact that most of their batters in the middle-order — Suryakumar, Tilak Varma and Tim David — have returned to form. But the fact that Arshdeep has a good record against Ishan Kishan will worry Mumbai Indians. The left-arm pacer has dismissed Kishan twice in four balls.
