Young Mayank Yadav, who took this IPL by storm with his searing pace, has been ruled out of the remainder of the competition after sustaining a lower abdominal tear, Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer said on Saturday.
“We'll be praying that he (Mayank) can play, hopefully, in the play-offs, but I am a realist as well. It'll probably be difficult for him to get up for the back-end of the tournament," Langer said on the eve of the Super Giants' home game against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to Langer, Mayank sustained a tear at the same area where he was injured earlier. "He's had a scan. He's got a small tear in a similar area to where his last injury was. It's very unfortunate,” the former Australia head coach said.
Langer said even Jasprit Bumrah has told Mayank about how pacers will have to cope with injuries. “After that game (against Mumbai Indians last Tuesday), Bumrah told him that he's going to get injuries in a part of his journey as a young fast bowler."
