Virat Kohli had an eventful day in Port of Spain on Friday. Having completed his 29th Test hundred, Kohli found a unique admirer in West Indies wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva's mother.

This took place a day after Da Silva had told Kohli that his mother was a huge fan of his batting. She was seen hugging Kohli and getting emotional after their meeting when the players were boarding the team bus at the end of the second day's play.

Kohli had been soaking in the Queen's Park Oval atmosphere after reaching his hundred. He said he felt “charged up” when faced with an adverse situation and said it was extremely “satisfying” to get his 29th Test hundred as he had to “do the hard yards”.

The hundred ended his almost five-year-long drought for a Test century overseas. “I really enjoyed myself out there. I was in the rhythm I wanted to be in. Started in challenging times... I switch on during these times. When I have something to overcome, I get charged up,” Kohli said.

“I had to be patient as the outfield was slow. It was very satisfying as I had to do the hard yards.”

Kohli said focusing on his diet and body has helped. “I looked after myself. Training, sleep cycle, rest and diet. Converting 1 into 2s is an easy run for me. It helps me to stay off the pressure. Fitness helps me in all formats. I want to keep playing at the top of my fitness ability.”

Kohli's only other ton in the Caribbean is his 200 in 2016 in North Sound.
