Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates wish to bid a special goodbye to senior-pro Jhulan Goswami when India Women take on hosts England in the third and final ODI of the series at Lord’s on Saturday. Goswami, 39, is set to bid adieu to the game after a two-decade-long glorious career at the end of the ongoing tour of England.

India crushed England by 88 runs on Wednesday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead. Having sealed the series, the team’s attention will be now on making Goswami’s farewell match a memorable one.

“The Lord’s game is very special for us because it’s Jhulan’s retirement and we wanted to enjoy that game without any pressure. I’m really happy that we were able to win today (Wednesday) and now we can just have fun in that game. It will be a very emotional moment for all of us and we definitely want to win that game,” Harmanpreet said after Wednesday’s win.

The skipper also doffed her hat to Goswami for being an inspiration to all the players, including herself. “She’s someone who has taught us a lot... When I debuted, she was a leader and I learned a lot from her and now our young bowlers, like Renuka (Singh) and Meghna Singh, they are also learning from her. She’s been a great inspiration for all of us.”
