“Very good... He’s such an important member of India’s attack,” is how James Anderson, a modern-day great when it comes to swing bowling, complimented Jasprit Bumrah.
Interacting briefly at Old Trafford, where one end is named in his honour (the other salutes Brian Statham), Anderson told The Telegraph: “Bumrah is young and should make bigger contributions for India.”
Asked about the right calf muscle tear, which has put a question mark over his availability for the Test against Ireland, from July 24, Anderson said: “I’m better.”
Anderson, 36, suffered the injury during Lancashire’s County match against Durham.
The Ashes, by the way, begins on August 1.
