David Ivon Gower, an Ashes-winning captain of England, is scheduled to be at 10 Downing Street at noon on Sunday.

Not to advise outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May on Brexit, or suggest that he could be a better alternative than hopefuls Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt, but to present the Inter-Parliamentarians World Cup to the winning team.

“I have to give away the trophy, it’s a Commonwealth thing, but lunch isn’t planned,” Gower told The Telegraph on Saturday evening.

As the World Cup final will then be underway, it’s but natural that Gower would like to return to Lord’s at the earliest.

Without breaching protocol, of course.

Asked if he’d often go to the Prime Minister’s residence, Gower said: “I have, over the years, been there a few times when Margaret Thatcher, John Major and David Cameron held office.”
