Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the rest of the home Test series against England after suffering a quadricep strain, the Pakistan cricket board (PCB) said on Tuesday.
Rauf suffered the injury during a fielding mishap on day one of the series-opener in Rawalpindi, when he rolled over the ball. England won by 74 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
“Haris will travel to Lahore where he will begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre,” the PCB said in a statement.
The Pakistan team management is set to call up outof-favour pacers Muhammad Abbas and Hasan Ali as reinforcements for the remaining two Tests.
With just three pacers now in the squad, including the uncapped Muhammad Wasim (jr) and Muhammad Ali who also made his Test debut in Pindi, a source said the team management would be calling up reinforcements before the second Test in Multan starting on Friday.
Ali played his last Test in Galle in July this year and he was dropped for the T20 World Cup and home series against England after a disappointing show in the Asia Cup. Abbas’ last appearance for Pakistan was in August in 2021.
