India were as dominant and clinical in the series opener in Dominica, as they were expected to be, against a side whose cricket is in its worst possible state.
In a matter of a few days, it’s extremely tough for the hosts West Indies to bring about a drastic change in their game to worry India ahead of the 100th Test between the two teams.
The second and final Test begins in Port of Spain on Thursday and unless Rohit Sharma and his men come up with a shocker of a performance, there aren’t too many hurdles in India’s way. A win and a series-sweep will secure the visitors a few extra points in the current World Test Championship cycle.
Going by the current scenario, complacency and over-confidence appear to be the only two aspects that Team India need to be aware of, for cricket never ceases to surprise.
The Queen’s Park Oval pitch may assist quicks a little more, which could pose a few challenges for the likes of Rohit, one-Test-old Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli as the Windies pace attack does have some experience.
India though would not be making any major change in their XI, as skipper Rohit said on Tuesday. However, it remains to be seen if Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar is preferred over left-armer Jaydev Unadkat, who finished wicketless in Dominica and didn’t bowl too many overs either.
