Out of the five matches they have played so far, Chennai Super Kings have already breached the 200-run mark twice. Devon Conway revealed the secret of Chennai’shigh scores after their win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday, when they put up 226/6 batting first.

“Tonight (Monday) was a really good surface to bat on, so for us to get those big totals, it’s about trying to create a strike rate of around 200- plus,” the New Zealander said.

Conway said that though he was some way off the 200- plus strike rate, he was happy that some of the other batters— Ajinkya Rahane (185 strike rate), Shivam Dube (192.59), Ambati Rayudu (233.33) andMoeen Ali (211.11) — could achieve the mark.

“I didn’t manage to achieve that (200-plus rate) but some of the work done by the otherplayers, like Ajinkya, Dube, Rayudu and Moeen Ali in the end, they all chipped in with really good strike rates and that’s what got us to a very competitive total.

“That’s probably the method on this kind of wicket, where it’s really good to bat,” said Conway, who scored at a strike rate of 184.44 on Monday.

Speaking on a different issue, Conway said that the spider Cam, which hovers over the ground during the match, is at times disturbing for the players.
