Not too long back, pictures of Rishabh Pant on crutches paying a visit to the Delhi Capitals' pre-season training camp were splashed all over on different media platforms. But the keeper-batter has staged a remarkable turnaround, regaining complete fitness to lead his team in the ongoing IPL.
Saturday will mark another chapter in Pant's comeback story when he takes the field at the Kotla against Sunrisers Hyderabad. From a life-threatening accident in 2022 to this day, Pant has shown what a fighter he is.
A lot of that fight will be needed against the marauding Sunrisers.
Kotla is not just the Capitals' base, it's also the home ground of Delhi boy Pant. It will be the season's first match at the Kotla for the Capitals, who used Visakhapatnam as their temporary home for a few matches this season. It will also be the first time since his accident that Pant will be playing at the venue.
But the homecoming party might be ruined if the Capitals fail to rein in the destructive batters of the Sunrisers, who have already posted two of the highest totals ever in this IPL.
In other words, Pant will need the Ishant Sharmas and Kuldeep Yadavs to be at their best if the Capitals want to make their captain's homecoming memorable.
