Delhi Capitals brightened their chances of making the playoffs by defeating Punjab Kings on Monday. With a match left, they have 14 points and are placed fourth on the table.

“Throughout the tournament we have been losing one game and winning one. That’s something we wanted to change as a team and we got it,” captain Rishabh Pant said.

The Capitals play their final match against Mumbai Indians on Saturday and Pant said they would take it like any other game. “The approach is mostly going to be the same but we have to assess the wicket. We don’t know how it will play at the Wankhede.”

The Capitals are keeping fingers crossed on the fitness status of Prithvi Shaw, who had recently been diagnosed with typhoid. “I think he’s 50/50. We’ll know in a few days time,” the captain said.

Shardul Thakur, who was the Man of the Match for his four-wicket haul, said: “I always like to perform in crunch situations. These last two games are important for our team. I always feel happy when I rise to the occasion.”

“I think the sixth over was the big over where I got two wickets. They were cruising and we saw in both innings, the Powerplay was a big factor. Fast bowlers were going for runs. And as soon as the Powerplay ended, suddenly the runs stopped. So getting two wickets was very crucial,” Shardul said.
