Off-spinner Deepti Sharma struck thrice and reached the landmark of 100 T20I wickets, the first India cricketer to accomplish the feat. Her 3/15 followed by Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 44 off 32 balls laid the foundation for India’s six-wicket win over the West Indies in the Women’s T20 World Cup at Newlands in Cape Town on Wednesday.
This was India’s second straight win in the World Cup and they now have four points after two games. But they are second in Group 2 as England’s net run rate is superior.
The West Indies Women won the toss and opted to bat, but their scoring rate remained a problem, thanks to Deepti and the likes of Renuka Singh (1/22) and Pooja Vastrakar (1/21), who were all economical.

India restricted the Windies to a paltry 118/6. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana took India off to a flier in reply, but they slipped to 43/3 in the eighth over. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (33) and Richa then showed precision during their 72-run fourth-wicket stand that shut the door on the Windies.
