Deepak Chahar may have to miss the entire IPL 2022 with a back injury. The all-rounder, whose medium-pace bowling in the shortest format is highly rated, is on the Chennai Super Kings roster.
He was expected to recover from a quadricep injury by mid-April, but a back issue has now almost ended his chances of playing this IPL. That’s a big blow to Chennai’s plans.
Chahar had suffered a quadricep tear during a T20I against the West Indies in February. He was recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and it seems that he picked up the latest injury there itself.
Sundar setback
Sunrisers Hyderabad will not have Washington Sundar for at least the next couple of matches after the all-rounder, who bowls off-spin, split a webbing in his bowling hand on Monday. “I’d imagine it’d take probably a week or so to settle down,” coach Tom Moody said.
Their next two matches are against the KKR and Punjab Kings on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Sundar has been played as the lone specialist spinner by the Sunrisers and without him, they will struggle to fix their spin attack.
