MI New York won the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket, the US T20 league, beating Seattle Orcas by seven wickets in Dallas on Sunday.
In the final, Seattle Orcas scored 183 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs with Quinton de Kock making 87 off 52 balls.
MI New York chased down a total of 184 in just 16 overs with captain Nicholas Pooran leading from the front with an unbeaten hundred.
Pooran saved his power-hitting masterclass for the ultimate fixture as he remained unbeaten on a pulsating 137 off 55 balls. His innings included as many as 10 fours and 13 sixes.
He masterfully got into the act inside the Powerplay itself as he raced to the fastest half-century of the season, off 16 balls.
The MI franchise thus added the MLC title to their overflowing trophy cabinet which also has five IPL and one WPL trophy.
