Bhuvneshwar Kumar is staying away from social media to focus on his job at the T20 World Cup. The senior India seamer faced a lot of criticism in the lead-up to the tournament but has delivered strong performances in India’s two matches so far.
“Itni saalon mein ek baar ho gayi cheezein kharab. So ho gayi. Baat khatam... Media and commentators can say a lot of things, but as a team we knew we will have our share of ups and downs. T20 is a format where it could be tough for bowlers and even for batters if the track is a difficult one.
“During the World Cup, I keep myself completely off from social media and have no idea what all is written about. Because it’s the social media from which you come to know all these things,” Bhuvneshwar told reporters in Sydney.
He also claimed that the team hasn’t been doing anything extra to deal with the injured Jasprit Bumrah’s absence.
“The kind of bowler Bumrah is, certainly it’s a big loss for the team. But it’s not as if we would have to do something extra that Bumrah isn’t around. Even if Bumrah would have been around, and if needed, we would have done those extra things. We are doing exactly what our strengths are.”
Bhuvneshwar is impressed with how his young pace partner Arshdeep Singh has performed so far. “He has been amazing... Considering this is his first T20 World Cup, he is doing really well.”
