The BCCI has compensated the venues which did not get to host any World Cup games by awarding them matches during the upcoming home season.
Mohali, Indore, Rajkot and Visakhapatnam will host two games each, featuring series against Australia (three ODIs and five T20Is), Afghanistan (three T20Is) and England (five Tests).
Among other venues that missed out on the World Cup, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Nagpur and Ranchi will also host matches during the 2023-24 bilateral season.
Among cities which will host World Cup games, only Hyderabad — where Australia will play one T20I and England one Test — Bangalore and Dharamsala have been awarded bilateral games.
Eden Gardens will not be hosting any of the matches, including the five-Test series against England. In fact, England will not play the Tests at any of India’s traditional centres — Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai and Bangalore.
Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala will host the Tests against Ben Stokes’ team.
India’s first assignment in this home season is the ODI series against Australia from September 22 to 27 in the lead-up to the World Cup.
The T20I series begins on November 23, four days after the World Cup final.
