Bangladesh registered their first win on the tour of West Indies when they earned a six-wicket victory in the first ODI of the three-match series, in Georgetown on Sunday.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl. The match was reduced to 41 overs per innings because of a wet outfield.
West Indies struggled from the very beginning, losing opener Shai Hope in the second over. The trend continued with none of the home team batters managing to get a foothold. In the end, they could only manage a total of 149/9 in their allotted overs, with No. 3 Shamarh Brooks leading the scoring with a 66-ball 33.
Shoriful Islam took 4/34 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed 3/36 for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh began the chase losing Litton Das in the third over, but thereafter their batters showed enough determination to help the team reach the target in 31.5 overs losing four wickets.
Mahmudullah top scored with an unbeaten 41 off 69 deliveries, and Najmul Hossain Shanto hit a 46-ball 37.
