Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and cricketer-turned-MP Kirti Azad on Friday told Delhi High Court that they were settling the defamation row with the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Both Kejriwal and suspended BJP MP Azad told Justice R.S. Endlaw that they were withdrawing the allegedly defamatory statements made against DDCA, which in turn told the court that it was withdrawing its Rs 5 crore defamation suit against them.

Taking note of the submissions, the court disposed of DDCA's defamation suit.

Kejriwal's lawyer Anupam Shrivastava handed over to the DDCA counsel, Pradeep Chhindra, a letter saying that statements regarding functioning and finances of the cricketing body have been withdrawn.

No reasons were given in court as to why both of them were withdrawing their statements against DDCA.

Kejriwal had alleged that a raid in his secretariat by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was to look for a file relating to the local association.

Kejriwal, who ordered a probe against the alleged corruption in the DDCA, claimed the CBI was looking for the inquiry committee report, which carried the name of the former DDCA president and Union finance minister Arun Jaitley.

While senior DDCA officials felt the chief minister should not have dragged the name of the association into the controversy, a body of former cricketers, led by Bishan Singh Bedi, had said they would continue to fight against corruption in DDCA.
