Gujarat Titans have emerged as the team to beat in IPL 2022 and Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to be at their best if they are to come out triumphant from the two teams’ contest at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Monday.

With three wins from as many matches, the unbeaten Titans have displayed good, all-round cricket so far. Hardik Pandya has been composed as the captain, Shubman Gill looks to be in prolific touch, Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Shami dealing well in pace and swing and Rashid Khan being the smart spinner that he is — it is a confident unit. And if everything fails, they have a Rahul Tewatia, who, it seems, can fix all problems.

The Sunrisers must be wary of the Titans’ form, though they did pick up their first win of the season in their last match, overcoming the Chennai Super Kings. The Hyderabad side’s batting and bowling clicked in unison in their victory and they would need a similar showing to get the better of the Titans.

More than bowling, it’s batting that would keep Kane Williamson’s team worried. Abhishek Sharma, Williamson and Rahul Tripathi got runs against Chennai, but if they fail, the middle-order back-up looks wobbly. Against the Titans’ strong bowling line-up, Sunrisers will need Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran to be at their best.

The Sunrisers will do well to have a rethink about their batting order. Using Williamson as an opener, they are making their already weak middle-order shaky.

The Titans do not have many worries, though wicketkeeper Matthew Wade hasn’t really fired with the bat while opening the innings. They have options in Afghan Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Wriddhiman Saha to replace Wade. But they might also want the to give the Australian some more time.
