West Indies made a steady start in reaching 69/1, bowling Sri Lanka out for a modest 204 before rain forced an early end to Day II of the second Test.

Left-arm spinners Veerasammy Permaul and Jomel Warrican combined for nine Sri Lanka wickets with career-best performances. At stumps on Tuesday, Windies captain Kraigg Brathwaite (22) and Nkrumah Bonner (1) were at the crease.

Permaul snared 5/35 to register his first five-wicket haul. Warrican took 4/50, also his career best. The pair ensured they reversed a good Sri Lanka start, which featured a 106-run opening partnership.

Sri Lanka then lost nine wickets for just 98 runs.
