A pitch that once nurtured first-class cricketers is now known for growing chillies and pumpkins.

The Khanewal Cricket Stadium, home to some players of repute in the country, is now a vegetable farm. According to ARY news, millions were invested into the stadium to encourage youngsters, but the picture has changed over the years. Apart from a neatly curated field, the stadium also boasted of practice pitches and a state-of-the-art pavilion. Everything has changed now. According to reports, the impact of Covid-19 urged the authorities to ignore regular cricketing activity.

Pakistan cricket has been in doldrums ever since a majority of teams refused to tour the country for security issues.

But things are looking up for the cricket-crazy nation, with New Zealand and England touring in September and October, respectively. Australia are also expected to travel to Pakistan in February 2022.

The Pakistan cricket team is currently on a tour to the West Indies, where they lost the first Test by one wicket on August 17. The Windies held their nerves as the last-wicket pair of Kemar Roach and newcomer Jayden Seales guided them to a thrilling one-wicket win over the visitors in the first Test in Kingston on Sunday.

Roach remained not out on 30 while Seales contributed with two as the Windies reached the target of 168/9 after bowling Pakistan out for 203 in the second innings.
