The alarming rise of Covid-19 cases in the country has led the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to decide that the remaining three T20Is against England will be hosted without spectators at the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad.
The first two games at the world’s largest stadium saw more than 60,000 spectators in attendance and many were pictured without masks. Also, though a full house was not allowed, no steps were taken to spread out the spectators.
“The decision was arrived at following detailed discussions with the state and local health authorities,” the BCCI said on Monday. “The BCCI will continue to comply with all the regulations put in place.”
The ticket-holders will be refunded, assured the Board.
