No chance for fans

Clubs from England’s Football League (EFL), the three divisions below the Premier League, have been told that when the action does return it is likely to be without fans but that all games should be broadcast live. “Unfortunately, I cannot tell you today when football will resume, though whenever we do return matches are likely to be played without crowds,” EFL chairman Rick Parry said in a letter to fans.

AITA angry

The national tennis federation has lashed out at the sports secretary for making baffling suggestions such as hiring physical training teachers to unearth talent and demanding a proposal for the next two editions of the Olympic Games. AITA secretary general Hironmoy Chatterjee slammed sports secretary Radhey Shyam Julaniya, alleging that he “only talks and does not want to listen”.

Meets cancelled

The BMW International Open in Germany and the Open de France golf tournaments were cancelled on Friday because of the pandemic, and the Scottish Open was postponed.

Ace paddler Sharath Kamal interacted with young table tennis players from the city via video conference on Friday. The event was organised by Dhanuka Dhunseri Table Tennis Academy. The coaches of the academy also took part in the interactive session.
