Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting conceded that chasing is an area of concern for his team and it needs to hit the “reset” button to seal an IPL playoff spot.

Getting off to a flying start in the tournament, the Capitals suffered a hat-trick of losses — two of them while chasing — to slip to the third spot in the standings.

“It’s been a concern. When we decide to bowl first, we’ve given away big totals. We have to get better at that.

“We need to be better at bowling first and at chasing totals because so far, it hasn’t worked for us,” Ponting said after his team’s 88-run loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The Capitals will now have to make sure they right the wrongs against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last two games.

Talking about Wriddhiman Saha, who blasted the Capitals attack to score 87 off just 45 balls, Ponting said he was “surprised” by the ’keeper-batsman’s super knock. “That made the difference in the game,” Ponting said.

Saha’s knock also drew praises from Sachin Tendulkar, who lauded his “underrated” shot-making, while Team India head coach Ravi Shastri found it “outstanding.”

“Very smart batting. I also feel that Wriddhipops quick scoring ability is invariably underrated,” Sachin tweeted.“Improvised his shots after picking the line and length.”
