The Board of Control for Cricket in India has shelved its plan to host the Vijay Hazare Trophy and is instead focusing on the Ranji Trophy during a truncated domestic season owing to Covid-19.

According to The Telegraph’s sources, BCCI plans to get the Ranji Trophy started from either the second or third week of next month. President Sourav Ganguly is keen to host the Ranji Trophy instead of the Vijay Hazare one-day (50 over) championship. “As things stand, the Board is eyeing a February 17 start for the Ranji Trophy,” said the source. “The idea is to have the knockout matches once the IPL is over.”

Bengal will begin their conditioning camp on Friday at the JU Salt Lake campus ground in the presence of batting consultant VVS Laxman.
