Bhaker wins second gold medal at ISSF Junior World Championship

India won two more gold medals at the ongoing ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima on Saturday.

Manu Bhaker teamed up with Sarabjot Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team event to win her second yellow metal. Bhaker got her first in the 10m air pistol on Thursday.

The men’s trio of Srikanth Dhanush, Rajpreet Singh and Paarth Makhija picked up a gold medal in the 10m air rifle team event.

They beat a strong US team comprising reigning Olympic champion William Shaner, Rylan Kissel and John Blanton 16-6.

On Friday the shooters had got India its second gold.

Manu and Sarabjot led an India 1-2 in the air pistol mixed team competition. They beat compatriots Shikha Narwal and Naveen 16-12.

India now have won four gold, five silver and two bronze medals.

Earlier, in the qualification round, the Indian pair finished 1-2 as well with Manu and Sarabjot shooting 386 and Shikha and Naveen were a point behind at 385.

The pair of Rajpreet Singh and Atmika Gupta lost to William Shaner and Mary Carolyn Tucker of the US in the 10M air rifle mixed team final 15-17.

On Friday the trio of Areeba Khan, Raiza Dhillon and Ganemat Sekhon finished on the top of the podium in the women’s skeet team event. They defeated the Italian trio of Damiana Paolacci, Sara Bongini and Giada Longhi.

This is the first multi-discipline shooting event since the Tokyo Olympics with as many as 32 nations participating in the meet.
