Pep Guardiola was right when he said Sergio Aguero will play alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
The moment has come, and the La Liga giants have signed the Argentine forward, making an official announcement on their website.
Aguero, who will move to Barcelona on a free transfer, underwent his medical tests at Camp Nou earlier today. The 32-year-old striker was lapped up by the Blaugrana when Manchester City decided to let him go after an impressive ten-year stint. “FC Barcelona and Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club from 1 July when his contract with Manchester City expires. The player will sign a contract until the end of the 2022-23 season and his buy out clause is set at 100 million euros,” Barcelona said in an official statement.
Aguero last took the field for the Cityzens in the Champions League final, which Chelsea won 1-0 in dramatic style.
Aguero, who has won 15 major trophies with City, will join forces with Messi, who has been struggling without the services of Luis Suarez, who moved to Atletico Madrid in August 2020. With 260 goals in 390 games, Aguero became the highest ever goal-scorer for City.
Before City, Aguero had played for Atletico, where he scored 74 goals in 175 appearances.
