Bangladesh want to learn from the mistakes they made in the first Test against India in Indore, and are looking forward to putting up a better show at the Eden.

“We made some mistakes in the first innings. There was no partnership at the top of the order also. We must not repeat the mistakes,” Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque said on Thursday.

“Our batsmen showed poor shot selection. It’s about being strong mentally. We also need to be more patient. The idea is to play session by session,” he said.

Mominul said the Indian pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma would be lethal under lights.

India have world-class fast bowlers. Under lights, it will be more challenging. But we will stay positive. I think they will be pose a challenge to any team and not just Bangladesh,” he said.

“The biggest challenge will be playing under lights. The extra shine on the ball can make it difficult for a batsmen. Fielding can be challenging too. As far as the batsmen are concerned, they have to be more focused and give 100 per cent,” Mominul said.

The Bangladesh captain added that they would want to capitalise on the chances they get. “It’s new for everyone. We prepared well. We will look for opportunities. We are excited to play the first ever pink-ball Test for our country,” Mominul said.

He felt that a practice match with the pink ball would have helped them to prepare better for the Test.

“We did not get any practice game with the pink ball. But that can’t be helped now.”

“It’s always exciting to play in front of big crowd. A pink-ball Test under lights can be a challenge, but at this level, there’s challenge everywhere. But we would like take that positively,” he added.
