Chris Green, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for this year’s IPL, has been banned from bowling for three months after being reported for illegal action during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).
The 26-year-old spinner-all-rounder, bought for his base price of Rs 20 lakh at the IPL auction here last month, was reported during his team Sydney Thunder’s loss to Melbourne Stars last week.
“We’d like to commend Chris and the Thunder for the way they have approached this process with complete cooperation and respect,” Peter Roach, Cricket Australia’s head of cricket operations, said in a statement.
“Chris undertook testing at the earliest possible time and satisfactorily replicated his bowling action in the controlled environment. We look forward to working with Chris in the coming months and conducting further testing once the suspension period has elapsed.”
The IPL begins before Green’s CA-enforced ban has elapsed.
“... Whilst the news surrounding my action is disappointing, I respect the process and the results of the test. Perspective is a powerful thing with what is currently happening in our country. Through the help of my coaches, I will be doing everything I can to get back to doing what I love with ball in hand,” Green tweeted.
