Wrestler Bajrang Punia, one of India’s medal prospects in the Tokyo Olympic Games, was injured during the semi-final bout of the Ali Aliev memorial tournament in Kaspiysk, Russia.
Bajrang suffered an injury on his right knee and according to sources at this point in time there is nothing to worry about.
With the Games starting in less than a month, the news of the injury is the last thing one wants to hear. Bajranj was up against Abdulmazhid Kudiev of Russia and the bout was forfeited when the Indian was down by 0-4. Bajrang was writhing in pain when his rival pinned him down and the wrestler was limping.
Bajrang, who is seeded second in the 65kg category in the Tokyo Games, had skipped the Poland Open, preferring to train in Russia.
