Last year’s runners-up ATK Mohun Bagan will take on arch-rivals SC East Bengal in the season’s first Derby on November 27, according to the fixtures released by the Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday.
“I know all the talk is around the Derby. Although we will have only a short time to prepare, I respect the emotions of all the fans. We will be ready,” SC East Bengal coach Manuel Diaz was quoted as saying in a media release.
Antonio Lopez Habas-coached ATK Mohun Bagan begin their ISL VIII campaign with a match against Kerala Blasters at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on November 19, the first day of the league.
SC East Bengal play their first match on November 21, against Jamshedpur FC, at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco, while defending champions Mumbai City FC face FC Goa the next day.
ISL VIII will feature a total of 115 matches, of which games of only the first 11 rounds — involving 55 matches and till January 9 — have been unveiled as of now.
