Jaidip Mukerjea’s fascinating tennis career has been a source of inspiration to a number of tennis players in India and now, having penned his life’s journey, Mukerjea hopes to motivate future generations.
During the launch of his book Crosscourt at the Tolly Club on Friday, which was also the day he turned 81, an emotional Mukerjea thanked his wife Sharmin for encouraging him to write his life story.
“I have tried to recount the time when Indian tennis players like Ramanathan Krishnan, Premjit Lall and I played all around the world. It was not easy. We had very little money. But even then, tennis was exciting. I hope this book will motivate future generations to take up the sport,” Mukerjea said.
Ramesh Krishnan, India’s iconic Davis Cup star, and Somdev Dev Varman, former world No. 62, actress Moon Moon Sen and former national golf champion and coach Indrajit Bhalotia were among those present at the function.
