37th National Games: Bengal’s Janhvi Choudhary wins bronze in women’s 100 metres freestyle event

Two Olympians, Anjum Moudgil and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa in women’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) and men’s skeet respectively, are among the gold medallists

Bengal’s Janhvi Choudhary won bronze in the women’s 100 metres freestyle event in the ongoing 37th National Games being held in various venues in Goa.

Bengal also won bronze in the 4x100 metres mixed medley relay. Dhinidhi Desinghu, 14, became the youngest women swimmer to win seven gold medals, while Srihari Nataraj finished with 10 medals including eight gold, one silver and bronze each as Karnataka expectedly topped the standings chart at the end of aquatic competitions.

In water polo, Bengal beat Kerala 11-10 in the bronze medal match.

Haryana and Punjab shared the four gold medals on offer, in shooting.

Two Olympians, Anjum Moudgil and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) and men’s skeet respectively, were among the gold medallists.

Haryana’s gold medals came through Sanjana Sood in the women’s skeet and the pair of Sarabjot Singh and Palak Gulia in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Haryana now have three of the five gold decided in shooting so far.

In men’s football, Manipur entered the semi-finals to set up a clash with Punjab. In the other last-four clash, Services will take on Kerala.

Manipur made the grade after a resounding 8-3 victory over Maharashtra. The winners, who led 2-0 at the half time, pumped in six more in the second session.
