Commanding an army is always a fun experience and there have been ample games that allow you to do that. However, the essence of commanding one and the feel of taking control over another’s army is the strongest in the mobile game Crowd City.
This unique multiplayer game has six players. All six have their own armies and your objective is to have the maximum number of people in your army by the time the game ends. Each of the players starts with an army of around 10 people. As you walk your army down the streets of your city, you will encounter people on the road. If anyone in your army touches a person on the road, that person will become a part of your army. It is a simple and exciting concept that sees your army gradually grow over time.
This is where the game gets interesting. Just like you, the five other players are also growing their armies. You can take over the armies of any other player if there are fewer people in their army than in your army. Crowd City starts feeling like a cat-and-mouse game where you are running from stronger opponents while targeting weaker ones. Keep in mind that you will be eliminated from the game if every member of your army is taken over by an opponent.
Based on your standing at the end of the short game, you are given stars that help you level up. This gives you more members to start the game with. Each game lasts for two minutes and gets interesting with every second. Crowd City keeps on reminding you what your biggest army has been and motivates you to beat that score.
The other fun aspect of the game are the costumes that your army can don. You can collect these costumes by completing mini-objectives, such as having an army of 700 people or finishing a level without eliminating an opponent. You can also pay money for these costumes.
VERDICT: Crowd City is a fun and addictive game that you can keep playing on your phone for days together. What gets annoying at times are the ads that you have to deal with after playing a game. The game also starts lagging as your army gets bigger. However, if you are able to get past these minor issues, you will have fun building your army. I would rate it eight out of 10.
